Terms of Use

Effective September 29, 2026 · Snowleopard Labs LLC

These Terms are a contract between you and Snowleopard Labs LLC, an Illinois limited liability company ("Snowleopard", "we", "us"). By installing or using Sworn you agree to them. If you do not agree, do not use the service.

You must be 18 to set up and operate Sworn

Sworn emails third-party addresses on your instruction. That requires the kind of consent only an adult can give. By using Sworn you confirm you are at least 18 years old.

Use Sworn for accountability, not harassment

You may only add an email address as a partner if the person who owns that inbox has agreed to be your accountability partner. We require partners to confirm by clicking a link in our invite email for that reason. You will not:

We may suspend or terminate accounts that breach these rules, with or without notice, and may share information with law enforcement when legally required.

Your account and your random ID

Each device generates a random ID on first launch, paired with a private device key kept in that device's secure storage. That covers your phone and any computer you pair with it. Changes to your blocking categories and partner list are authorized by that key — never the ID alone — so sharing your ID (for example, with our support team) doesn't let anyone change your settings. You're responsible for activity on your account.

Privacy is governed by our Privacy Policy

How we handle your data is described in our Privacy Policy, which is part of these Terms.

Subscriptions

Malware and ads/tracker blocking are free forever. To filter the other categories (pornography, gambling, social media, online shopping, gaming, VPN/proxy) and to use the partner-email feature, you subscribe through the App Store (iPhone) or Play Store (Android). The subscription is currently a single monthly tier; the price shown in your store at the time of purchase is the price you pay.

Free trial. New subscribers get a 7-day free trial. Apple or Google doesn't charge you during the trial; if you don't cancel at least 24 hours before it ends, the subscription renews automatically at the standard price shown at purchase. Apple enforces one trial per Apple ID and Google enforces one per Google account, so reinstalling doesn't restart the trial.

Auto-renewal. Subscriptions renew automatically at the end of each billing period unless you cancel at least 24 hours before the period ends. Apple or Google charges your account around 24 hours before renewal. Sworn never sees your card details — Apple and Google handle the payment.

Cancelling. Cancel any time from the App Store (iPhone Settings → Apple ID → Subscriptions) or Play Store (Subscriptions). Cancellation takes effect at the end of the current period; you keep paid filtering through that date and then drop back to the free tier (malware and ads/tracker blocking). We have no way to cancel your subscription on your behalf — only Apple and Google can.

Refunds. Apple and Google handle refund requests through their own support channels (Apple's "Report a Problem" page; Google Play's order history). Sworn cannot issue refunds directly. If a refund is granted, your paid filtering ends immediately rather than at the end of the billing period.

Lost partner alerts during a billing retry. If your card is declined and Apple or Google gives you a grace period, your filtering and partner alerts continue through it. If the grace period ends without payment, or Google Play puts the subscription on hold, your subscription lapses. Your partners get one email saying your subscription ended and that blocked-site alerts are paused. They still hear from Sworn if the filter is switched off or a device stops being protected. Resubscribe and everything resumes. Existing partner records are preserved across the lapse, so resubscribing restores them without re-confirmation.

Partner email costs. When you subscribe, the price covers Sworn's cost of sending email alerts to your accountability partners via our email provider. Free users can use Sworn for self-filtering (malware and ads/tracker blocking); the partner-alert feature requires an active subscription.

Plan changes. If we change the subscription price or what a subscription includes, Apple and Google will ask you to consent before any new price applies. We won't reduce what an existing subscription covers without your consent.

Email notifications

What Sworn emails: Sworn sends email alerts to consenting accountability partners. A partner is anyone a Sworn user nominates and who explicitly opts in by clicking the confirmation link in an invite email. Once opted in, that partner receives alerts when the user attempts to visit a blocked site, removes a category from their filter, loosens their personal block or allowed lists, unblocks apps, pauses the filter from within the app, stops filtering abruptly while the device is still in use, stops using the filter for more than 24 hours, has a device stop being protected, or removes a device, and one email when the user's subscription ends.

Frequency: On a typical active day a partner receives at most a couple of emails — one immediate alert plus, at most, one daily digest of any further blocked-site attempts. Other events (removing a category, pausing the filter, the filter stopping abruptly, the filter going quiet for more than 24 hours, and similar) can each add a separate message, so Sworn hard-caps total mail to any single address at 30 per 24 hours as an anti-abuse ceiling. Most days carry zero emails.

How partners opt in: Partners opt in by clicking the unique confirmation link in the invite email. If the link has not been clicked after 48 hours, Sworn sends at most one reminder containing the same opportunity to decline. The link expires after 7 days. Beyond that invite and single reminder, no partner receives any further message from Sworn without this explicit click, and a one-click unsubscribe in either email ends all contact.

How partners opt out: Every email Sworn sends includes a one-click unsubscribe link, plus an RFC 8058 List-Unsubscribe header so Gmail, iOS Mail, and most modern clients surface a native unsubscribe button. Clicking unsubscribe stops all further Sworn emails to that address for that partnership immediately.

Sworn is not a substitute for human accountability or professional help

Filtering is best-effort. We can't promise that every site worth blocking is on our blocklists, that allowed sites always load, or that every block alert is delivered. Sworn is one tool that supports an accountability relationship. It is not a replacement for the relationship, for active parenting, or for professional treatment. Do not rely on Sworn for any safety-critical purpose.

You hold us harmless for your use of Sworn

You agree to indemnify and hold Snowleopard Labs LLC, its members, and its agents harmless from any claim, loss, or cost (including reasonable attorney's fees) arising from (a) your use of Sworn, (b) email addresses you supplied or messages sent on your instruction, (c) your breach of these Terms, or (d) your violation of any law or third-party right.

The accountability partners we email are not parties to this contract

These Terms create rights and obligations only between you and Snowleopard Labs LLC. Anyone you add as a partner is not a third-party beneficiary and may not bring a claim against us under these Terms.

Changes to the service or these Terms

We may add, change, or discontinue features at any time. When these Terms change, we'll bump the effective date at the top of this page. Continuing to use Sworn after that means you accept the change. If you want to know what's current, this page is the source of truth.

Ending these Terms

You can end these Terms at any time by deleting your account (see the Privacy Policy) and uninstalling the app. We can suspend or terminate your access at any time for breach of these Terms, suspected abuse, or any reason that threatens the service or other people. Sections that by their nature should survive termination — the warranty disclaimer, the limitation of liability, your indemnification, governing law, and the dispute-resolution clause — survive.

U.S. consumer-contract law makes us write the next three paragraphs in a particular form so they have force. The plain meaning is what's already above. We're not trying to yell.

The Sworn service, apps, and any related content are provided "as is" and "as available", with all faults and without warranty of any kind. To the fullest extent permitted by law, Snowleopard Labs LLC disclaims all warranties, whether express, implied, statutory, or otherwise, including without limitation any implied warranties of merchantability, fitness for a particular purpose, title, non-infringement, accuracy, and freedom from computer virus or other harmful code. You use Sworn at your sole risk.

To the fullest extent permitted by law, Snowleopard Labs LLC, its members, and its agents will not be liable for any indirect, incidental, special, exemplary, consequential, or punitive damages, or for any loss of profits, revenue, data, or use, whether arising under contract, tort, statute, or otherwise, even if we have been advised of the possibility. Our aggregate liability for any and all claims relating to Sworn is limited to one hundred U.S. dollars (US$100). Some jurisdictions do not allow some of these limits; in those jurisdictions our liability is limited to the smallest amount permitted by law.

Any claim arising out of or relating to Sworn or these Terms must be brought within one (1) year after the claim arose; otherwise it is permanently barred.

Governing law and where disputes are heard

These Terms are governed by the laws of the State of Illinois, without regard to its conflict-of-law rules. Any claim or dispute that cannot be resolved informally must be brought exclusively in the state or federal courts located in Cook County, Illinois, and you and we each consent to the personal jurisdiction of those courts.

Miscellaneous

If any part of these Terms is held unenforceable, the rest stays in force. Our failure to enforce any provision is not a waiver of our right to enforce it later. We may assign these Terms (for example, to a successor entity); you may not assign yours without our written consent. These Terms, together with the Privacy Policy, are the entire agreement between you and Snowleopard Labs LLC about Sworn and replace any prior understanding.
