Accountability without surveillance
Keep the promise
you made to yourself.

Accountability by design
Accountability that doesn't cost you your privacy.

One short email.
That's the whole system. No dashboards to review, no weekly reports to sit through, no daily check-ins. Someone you trust hears from us when it matters, and otherwise hears nothing at all. Partners are optional — Sworn filters fine with nobody watching, and you can add someone whenever you're ready.

02
We never see your screen.
Other accountability tools take screenshots. Sometimes constantly. Being watched that closely is its own kind of pressure, and it's why people quietly uninstall them. Sworn never sees what's on your display. Ever.

03
Your partner sees the category.
Never the site.They get
3 blocked attempts in the last 24 hours
and the category those attempts fell under — not the URLs. Enough to start a conversation, never enough to hold over you. The specifics aren't gone. They're on your phone: the app keeps a 7-day view of what was blocked, so the two of you can sit down and look at it together if you choose. Nobody is signed up as your partner without saying yes.
Every partner confirms by clicking a link in an invite email. One invite, at most one reminder, and a 7-day window. No click? We drop the invite. Every message we send carries a one-click unsubscribe. Once someone unsubscribes, we never email them again.

How it works
Four steps. About three minutes.
- Name what you're swearing off. Install the app on your phone (or your kid's) and pick the categories. Malware blocking is on by default, and ad and tracker blocking is free too — one toggle, no subscription. Add pornography, gambling, social media, online shopping, gaming, or VPN/proxy with a 7-day free trial, then $7/month. You can change your mind any time. If you've named a partner, loosening it is exactly the kind of thing they hear about.
- Turn the filter on. The app walks you through one Settings screen on your phone. Once you're done, what you swore off stops loading across every app — not just the browser. You don't have to think about it again.
One honest caveat. A few browsers run their own DNS in-app and ignore the system setting Sworn uses — Brave and Firefox ship this on by default. They take about thirty seconds each to switch off, and Support walks you through it. Everything else on the phone is covered the moment you finish setup.
- Name up to three people you trust. This is the part that turns a good intention into something that holds, and it's included with the subscription. Each person gets an email asking if they want to accept. They confirm, unsubscribe, or ignore it. They get one reminder after two days; if they still don't answer, we drop the invite. (Setting Sworn up for a kid? Name yourself, or a co-parent.) Skip this step entirely and Sworn just filters. Nobody gets emailed.
- If you slip, they hear one sentence about it. The first time you try to reach something you swore off, each confirmed partner gets one short email saying you tripped the filter and which category it was. Never the URL. It's an opening to talk rather than a report card. Anything else in the next 24 hours rolls into one summary at the end of that window, so nobody gets spammed and nobody gets a transcript of your day.
Every device you own
Your computer, under the same promise.
What you swore off shouldn't be one click away on the laptop. Sworn runs on Windows, Mac, Linux and Chromebook as well as your phone. Adding a computer takes about a minute: open Sworn on your phone, tap Add a computer, and type the code it shows.
A computer isn't a second account. It joins the one you already have: the same categories, the same personal block list, the same person you trust. What it blocks counts toward the same tally your partner already sees, and it's still one stream of emails rather than one per device. Pause it or remove it from the computer and your partner hears, exactly as they would from the phone. Updating it never emails anyone.
Your phone stays the anchor — it mints the code, and it's where you change what's blocked. On the computer Sworn is an icon next to the clock and a small part that runs in the background, with no window to keep open and nothing to sign in to. If Sworn can't be reached it lets the machine keep working and says so, rather than locking you out.
