Comparing Bark?
Protect them without
reading their messages.
Bark watches your child’s messages and social apps and tells you what it finds. Sworn takes the other path. The categories you choose simply don’t load on their phone, and you hear about it if they try — without anyone reading a word they type.
Free malware and ad blocking, always. Pornography, gambling, social media, and more: 7-day free trial, then $7/month.
The real difference
Surveillance, or protection.
-
01
Bark watches and reports.
Its job is to monitor and alert. Bark scans your child’s texts, email, and many social apps for signs of concerning content: bullying, predators, self-harm, explicit material. You get an alert when something looks wrong. It also offers website and app filtering and screen-time tools, and sells its own Bark Phone and Watch. That monitoring breadth is real, and it’s the whole point of the product.

02
Sworn blocks the category.
Sworn does one thing. The categories you choose simply don’t load in any app on the phone, system-wide. There’s nothing to screenshot and nothing for you to read through. If your child hits a blocked category, you get a count and the category —
3 blocked attempts in the last 24 hours
. Never a URL, never their messages.
Neither is “better” for every family. If you want to know what your child is saying and seeing, Bark is built for exactly that. If you’d rather block the categories without reading their messages, that’s what Sworn is for.

How it works
Set it up in about three minutes.
- Install Sworn on your child’s phone and pick categories. Malware blocking is on by default; ad/tracker blocking is free too, one toggle away. Add pornography, gambling, social media, shopping, gaming, or VPN/proxy blocking with a 7-day free trial, then $7/month.
- Turn on the one setting together. Sworn walks you through a single Settings screen. It’s one encrypted-DNS setting, no VPN. Blocked categories just stop loading everywhere; their banking, Maps, and everything else keep working.
- Add yourself as the accountability partner. You get an invite to confirm, and at most one reminder. After that you only ever see a count of blocked attempts and the category. Never a URL, never a screenshot, never their messages.
- You’ll know if the filter goes off. If your child hits a blocked category, you get a count. If the filter is switched off or goes quiet, you get an email — so a quiet bypass doesn’t go unnoticed.
