Switching from BlockerX?

Real accountability.
Honest billing.

Sworn keeps what you've sworn off off your phone and your computer, with one person you trust in the loop if you want them there. It's billed only through the App Store, so you cancel in two taps and we never charge your card directly. No VPN, and your partner sees a count and a category, not your history.

Get Sworn Compare them

Free malware and ad/tracker blocking, always. Other categories and partner alerts: 7-day free trial, then $7/month.

The real difference

Same goal, different plumbing.

  1. 01

    BlockerX blocks behind a VPN.

It uses a VPN plus an accessibility-service permission to block content and has an accountability-partner feature. It sells monthly, yearly, or a one-time “lifetime” plan, with subscriptions you may manage outside the App Store.

  2. 02

    Sworn works without one.

No VPN, no broad accessibility permission — blocked sites just don't load. Billing runs only through the App Store / Play Store, so you cancel in two taps and there's no card on file with us. A flat $7/month, no lifetime upsell. Your partner sees a count and never your history.

Both block more than just adult sites, and both offer an accountability partner. The difference is the plumbing underneath: a VPN and an outside subscription, or a simple phone setting, billed through the store you already trust.

A VPN sounds like a privacy feature. Here it’s only how these apps filter, and it’s why the same complaints keep appearing in VPN-based apps’ reviews: slow loading, dropped connections, and battery drain. Sworn doesn’t use one, so it stays fast and out of your way.

Reflects the iPhone experience. Comparison compiled June 2026 from BlockerX’s published pricing and documentation; their plans and features can change, so check their site for the latest. BlockerX includes a large user community Sworn doesn’t. We’re not affiliated with BlockerX; all names belong to their owners.

In their own words

You’re not imagining it.

  • “All I have to do is turn off the VPN settings on my phone… The panic button doesn’t work. This app is almost useless.”
App Store review (2026) of BlockerX
  • “I signed up for a three day free trial and charged me 100 dollars instantly. I cancelled the subscription immediately and now they won’t give me a refund.”
App Store review (2026) of BlockerX

With Sworn, turning it off pings your partner. Billing runs only through the App Store, so you cancel in two taps. Quoted from recent App Store reviews, trimmed only for length (…); like any app, BlockerX has its fans too.

Switching over

Move in about three minutes.

  1. Install Sworn and pick what to block. Malware blocking is on by default; ad/tracker blocking is free too, one toggle away. Add pornography, gambling, social media, shopping, gaming, or VPN/proxy blocking with a 7-day free trial, then $7/month.
  2. Turn on the filter. Sworn walks you through one Settings screen to turn it on. Blocked sites just stop loading everywhere, with no VPN and no accessibility permission.
  3. (Optional) Add up to three partners. Each gets an invite to confirm, and at most one reminder. They only ever see a count of blocked attempts and the category, never a URL and never the list of sites.
  4. Cancel BlockerX. Once Sworn is running, remove BlockerX and cancel its subscription. Going forward, your billing lives in the App Store — cancel anytime, two taps.
